Abstract

This work aimed to design a laser scanning diameter measurement system for packaged goods to meet the demand for diameter measurement of packaged goods. This paper designed a laser scanning diameter measurement system device meeting the demand for diameter measurement of packaging materials based on the study on application of laser scanning technology in terms of distance measurement. Te principle was to use visible laser as the light source, after measurement and scanning of the packaged goods with visible laser, the light signals were transformed into electric signals. The transformed electric signals were arranged using data processing system to get accurate results, which were displayed in the laser scanning diameter measurement system. The device had a digitized communication interface, which was connected with the PC to constitute the diameter measurement device for packaged goods, and could transform the laser signals into electrical signals followed by arrangement, analysis and processing. Real-time tracking and monitoring were realized, forming records. If accidents occurred in the process of scanning diameter measurement of packaged goods, the information could be feedback to the control system. The laser scanning diameter measurement system could achieve fully automated, fast and precise diameter measurement, with high detection efficiency, high reliability, and capability of dynamic, streamline and real-time online testing, and meanwhile causing no damage to the packaged goods.
