Abstract

Targeting at the high weight and cost of traditional wooden packaging box for civil aircraft components, new corrugated board packaging box with lower weight and cost was designed. Taking the APU door as an example, the finite element software MSC. Patran/Nastran was used to calculate the strength of APU door packaging box. The analysis of the packaging box was done by lateral load, and the comparative analysis of wood and corrugated board was carried out. It was shown that the corrugated board had 60% weight reduction as compared to wooden packaging box with the same strength, but the optimization of the packaging box should be done by lateral load. It was emphasized that corrugated board packaging box could be used for civil aircraft components, but the design load of the packaging box should be considered comprehensively. It can be used as a reference for the design of corrugated board packaging box for civil aircraft components.
