Abstract

This research studied the preparation and performance modification of cellulose enhanced chitosan/pullulan packaging materials. In this paper, by the solution casting method, different proportions of microcrystalline cellulose were added into the solution of chitosan and pullulan for enhancing the mechanical property and the property of oxygen barrier and water barrier. By electron microscopy (SEM), infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and other means, the structural characterization of the composite film was conducted. Meanwhile the barrier property of the composite material and the tensile property were tested. The tensile strength and the elongation at break of the composite film enhanced by microcrystalline cellulose were strengthened and the barrier property was improved. It showed that microcrystalline cellulose had good enhancement effect on the PET/chitosan/pullulan composite packaging film.
