Abstract

Objective To study the conditions to be satisfied when printing electronic products using gravure-offset.Methods The effects of dot shape on the saw-teeth edge were studied, and the effects of contact angle on the transferredvolume and rate of ink were analyzed by simulation. Results The surface energy must meet cosθ 像> 1+cosθ 版 so that theink could be 100% transferred from the gravure plate to the blanket. If other dot shapes like round dot or oval dot were used, then saw-teeth edge occurred regardless of the printing pressure. However, using square dots could decrease or eveneliminate the saw-teeth edge under appropriate printing pressure. Conclusion When the upper contact angle had a negative correlation with the ink transfer rate, and the lower contact angle had a positive correlation with the ink transfer rate, square dot should be used in printing of electronic products.
