Abstract

Objective To investigate the method and algorithm for dynamically generating clustered dot threshold matrixes and its potential applications. Methods A method of building printing spot function threshold matrix, as well as the principle of threshold value distribution of the corresponding dot cell gray threshold matrix, were provided based on their dot cell coordinate system. Values of mapping relationships between elements of both threshold matrixes above were also clarified. Results Through special treatment of the printing spot function, the dot data in the center of threshold matrix was shifted to a certain degree with respect to the center of the grid, generating a threshold matrix with special screening effects. Conclusion By embedding dynamically expected meaningful information inside a special area of the halftone image without affecting the appearance of the image, a predetermined area was generated in the image containing a special phase encoding information of spot distribution after screening. The study has practical significance in the fields of image reproduction, information hiding and anti-counterfeiting.
