Objective In order to overcome the shortcomings of traditional printing ERP, this paper developed a“user friendly” solution to meet the needs of printing companies and corporate management. Methods A survey was conducted in printing companies, and the main existing problems in the printing companies were summarized. Based on the data of the document chain and work order, a new printing ERP system was developed. Results The new system could efficiently solve the problems that existed in the printing business management in 124 printing companies in terms of the following aspects. Customers’ satisfaction reached 91% , material spoilages was reduced by 7% , and collaboration efficiency was tripled. Meanwhile, 5 hours was saved for every work order, while the administrative cost was decreased by 3.7 percent. As a result, the corporate profits was raised by an average of 2.3% .Conclusion The solution of printing ERP based on Documents management chain simplified the complicated management involved in the traditional printing companies. The target of the solution was to be recognized and officially used in enterprises in a flexible and easy manner.
