Abstract

Objective To study the technology for characterization and identification of recycled PVC plastics for packaging. Methods The characterization and identification of Recycled PVC plastics were investigated by FTIR and TGA-FTIR based on thermal stability and pyrolysis characteristics. Results The results showed that there were many components in recycled PVC plastics, and thermal pyrolysis could be divided into two decomposition stages. At the first stage (220~ 370℃ ), acetic acid and hydrogen chloride were released, whereas at the second stage (370~ 550 ℃ ), pyrolysis of plasticizers and hydrocarbon chain occurred. Conclusion This technology could effectively identify the composition of recycled PVC plastics for packaging.
