When reproducing color between the two different medium, the most common strategy is to match the white point of the source medium to that of the destination. Because the human visual adaptation to the white point of the source and destination observing environment is incomplete, so the method has certain limitation. White point adaptation in media relative matching was verified using paired-comparison psychophysical experiment. The acceptability of printing color matches on different color papers under white point compensation was evaluated. The effect of paper color difference on acceptable color matches was determined. The purpose was to provide basics for more effective color management scheme.
