Application of CIE DE2000 in Evaluation of Color Difference in Color Scanner Characterization

Abstract

Transformation model of RGB color space to CIE LAB color space was established by using support vector regression (SVR). CIE DE2000 and CIE 1976L*a*b* color-difference formulas were used in calculation of accuracy of the model. Based on CIE DE2000 color-difference formula, the average, maximum and minimum color differences of text set are 2.6597, 5.2194 and 0.2065. Based on CIE 1976L*a*b* color-difference formula, the corresponding results are 2.8656, 5.8791 and 0.3769. The results showed that color differences are basically the same by using CIE DE2000 color-difference formula and CIE 1976L*a*b* color-difference formula which accord with the accuracy of the color scanner characterization. Therefore, CIE DE2000 color-difference formula can be used in the management of scanner characterization.
