Abstract

Under different conditions, HDPE films containing known amounts of ultraviolet absorbers were soaked in 4 food simulants of water, 10% (V/V)ethanol solution, 3 g/L acetic acid solution and olive oil. At certain time, the soaking solution was analyzed by ultra performance liquid chromatography. The purpose was to study the relationship of migration with time, temperature, different food simulants, initial concentration of ultraviolet absorbers, and thickness of packaging material. The results showed that 4 ultraviolet absorbers only migrated into fat food simulants form HDPE; migration quantity and migration rate increased with temperature rising; migration quantity is higher and migration rate lower for thicker film; the higher initial ultraviolet absorbers concentration the more migration quantity and the lower migration rate.
