Safety Performance Evaluation System of Special Transportation Packaging for Lithium Ion Battery

Abstract

The work aims to analyze the key technology gap of special packaging in the protection function, and construct a set of complete machine test and evaluation system that can scientifically and quantitatively evaluate its comprehensive protection effectiveness. By sorting out the mechanism of lithium ion battery thermal runaway and related accident statistics, the core risks in transportation were identified. The technical path and standard application status of the four core functions of shock absorption, thermal insulation and fire resistance, explosion resistance and pressure relief, and monitoring and early warning were systematically analyzed. On this basis, a complete machine test and evaluation system with the core of simulating the real risk was designed. A packaging safety performance evaluation system covering four functional modules and a total of 15 quantitative indicators was constructed, and a whole machine test process with the thermal runaway induction experiment as the core was formed. A three-level performance evaluation standard of "excellent, qualified, and unqualified" was put forward, which had good evaluation discrimination. In conclusion, it provides technical support for the design optimization, detection and evaluation and standardization of lithium ion battery transportation packaging. Standard promotion should be further carried out in the future.
