Research Progress on Simulation Methods for Drop Testing of Lithium Battery Transportation Packaging

Abstract

The work aims to study prevalent simulation theories and methods for drop testing of lithium battery transportation packaging and explore safety strategies for lithium battery cargo transportation from a packaging perspective. The performance testing requirements for lithium battery transportation packaging were reviewed. The current state of simulation-based drop testing research was analyzed and traditional and digital simulation-based testing methods were compared. Findings showed that simulation technology significantly enhanced the accuracy and reliability of lithium battery packaging performance testing, reduced costs, and improved transportation safety and efficiency. In conclusion, it can partially replace traditional testing and design testing plans based on factors like packaging materials, cushioning materials, cargo types, and transportation methods. However, improvements in accuracy and reliability, especially predictive capability under complex structures, are still needed. Further research is required to enhance simulation technology for accurate and non-destructive testing of lithium battery packaging performance and safe transportation.
