Effect of Die-cutting Process Parameters on the Creasing Form of Hard Packaging Boxes

Abstract

The quality of die-cutting creasing directly impacts the forming quality of hard packaging boxes. The work aims to carry out experiments to study the effect of die-cutting process parameters on the creasing quality of hard packaging boxes, to provide theory reference for the forming quality control of hard packaging boxes. Two kinds of transfer paper widely used in packaging label printing were adopted as experimental materials and the die-cutting creasing experiment was conducted with the creasing tester. The creasing form data were measured to analyze the effect of bottom die groove width and indentation steel wire width on the creasing depth and width. The creasing form data of different paper were different. The creasing width correlated with the bottom die groove width positively, while the creasing depth correlated with the bottom die groove width negatively. The width and depth of the horizontal creasing were bigger than that of the longitudinal creasing. The creasing width did not increase with the increase of the indentation steel wire width. The indentation steel wire width did not affect the creasing depth significantly. It can be concluded that the creasing form correlates with the paper type. It is necessary to define paper test standards and control batch variation of paper. The change of bottom die groove width affects the creasing width remarkably, while the indentation steel wire width has little effect on the creasing form. The creasing quality of the hard packaging box can be controlled or optimized by setting or adjusting die-cutting process parameter values such as bottom die groove width, indentation steel wire width, etc.
