Optimization of Lactic Acid Purification Process of Corn Fermentation Broth Based on Activated Carbon Adsorption and Ion Exchange Resin Method

Abstract

The work aims to enhance the purity of lactic acid in corn fermentation liquor and promote the industrial production of poly(lactic acid) (PLA). The activated carbon adsorption and ion-exchange resin methods were employed for the separation and purification of lactic acid. The results indicated that the optimal separation effect was achieved with 2 g of activated carbon per 100 ml at a treatment temperature of 80 °C for a treatment period of 4 hours. Subsequently, further purification of lactic acid was carried out with ion-exchange resin under the best conditions of a stirring speed of 150 r/min and a rotation period of 4 hours, resulting in a lactic acid purity of 97.25%. The efficient separation and purification of lactic acid is successfully achieved with activated carbon adsorption and ion-exchange resin methods. This study provides an effective method for lactic acid purification of poly(lactic acid).
