Abstract

The work aims to explore the application of coating technology on the white kraft paper, improve its moisture resistance, antibacterial and bactericidal properties, and expand its application in packaging. Firstly, raw materials for the coating solution were selected, then their compatibility adjusted. And a scraper was used to coat the paper to obtain a uniformly thick coating. After drying, its antibacterial and bactericidal properties, moisture resistance, mechanical strength, and glossiness were tested, and its application and commercial value data were analyzed. The moisture resistance of the coated white kraft paper increased by 4-5 times, and the antibacterial and bactericidal properties increased with the increase of chitosan content, reaching a maximum of 15 times. The glossiness also increased with the increase of gelatin content. The natural biodegradable coating effectively enhances the antibacterial and bactericidal properties and moisture resistance of white kraft paper, and improves the commercial value of paper surface gloss and aesthetics.
