Abstract

The work aims to study the factors affecting the curing property of ink and find the influencing rules to improve the curing property of EB gravure ink and meet its application in high-speed printing equipment. The curing properties of EB gravure ink were studied from five aspects, such as prepolymer type, monomer type, ratio of prepolymer to monomer, electron beam radiation dose and electron beam radiation dose accumulation. Two kinds of prepolymer EB150 (Hyperbranched Polyester Acrylate) and 6215-100 (Modified Epoxy Acrylic Resin) could improve the curing properties of ink. The ink prepared by ACMO (Acrylyl Morpholine) had high double bond conversion rate and fast curing speed. With the increase of prepolymer content, the double bond conversion rate increased first and then gently decreased. Too much or too little prepolymer content was not conducive to ink curing. With the increase of radiation dose, the double bond conversion rate of ink increased first, reached a peak, and then decreased slightly. Under the same radiation dose, adding multiple times could significantly improve the curing properties of EB gravure ink. Prepolymers, monomers and radiation dose all have a certain effect on the curing properties of ink. Mastering the influence law can obtain EB gravure ink with excellent curing properties.
