Abstract

The work aims to research and develop a new type of lightning protection insulators with dual functions of insulators and lightning arresters. Based on the application of the TRIZ theory, improvement research was carried out on line lightning arresters. Innovative design was carried out using tools such as functional analysis, causal chain analysis, and contradiction analysis. A total of 7 mechanical performance enhancement schemes for packaging structural components, 2 packaging structural design schemes, and 1 design scheme that integrated the dual functions of insulators and lightning arresters were generated. The optimal design scheme for lightning arrester insulators was comprehensively screened. The newly designed lightning protection insulator can integrate the functions of insulators and lightning arresters by optimizing the packaging structure design, and play the role of insulators under normal operating conditions of the line. In case of overvoltage, activating the lightning arrester immediately clamps the voltage, thereby protecting the transmission line from damage. The experimental results show that the design scheme is simple and effective, which is of great significance for improving the reliability of lightning protection in power transmission and distribution, and reducing installation and operation costs.
