Abstract

To address the increasingly worsening global climate change and achieve carbon neutrality and achieve carbon neutrality, it is an essential task to study the application of low-carbon technologies in the packaging industry. The work aims to categorize and streamline the existing low-carbon technologies to facilitate the low-carbon transformation of the packaging industry in the context of carbon neutrality. The low-carbon technologies in the packaging industry were summarized from both carbon reduction and carbon removal. The application of degradable bioplastics and polymer monomer chemical recycling technologies in packaging were reviewed. The current development of several clean energy and carbon capture, carbon utilization and carbon storage technologies were introduced. For the packaging industry, there are still many challenges to achieve carbon neutrality. The packaging industry should select and develop the right low-carbon energy sources and carbon-neutral technologies in realizing carbon neutrality.
