Abstract

The paper aims to provide a feasible research method for expanding the application of polyethylene terephthalic acid (PET) in the field of surface spraying or electroplating packaging. Starting from its own characteristics such as poor toughness and poor surface electroplating performance, elastomer thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) and polyethylene octene co-elastomer (POE) are used to blend and modify PET to improve the toughness and surface polarity of PET. When the addition amount of TPU and grafted POE reaches 3% and 20%, the notched impact strength of PET can reach 31.49 kJ/m2, which is increased by 5 times, and the surface dyne value of PET products increases from 32 to 40. The introduction of elastomer TPU and grafted POE can change the internal arrangement structure of PET molecular chains, increase the branched chains, and increase the polar groups on the PET surface, so as to increase its surface energy.
