Abstract
The work aims to take the fragile product, spherical table lamp, as the packaging object and conduct innovative packaging design based on six-step method, to provide a reference case for the reduced packaging. Firstly, the logistics environmental conditions were determined to provide evaluation standard for subsequent verification tests. Then, the characteristics and fragility of the packaged object were analyzed to provide basis for packaging design. Thirdly, the structure of reduced packaging was designed. Furthermore, the packaging design was optimized. Finally, the reliability of the proposed design was verified by the tests. The peak angular drop acceleration of free drop test was 94.3g, which was significantly less than the fragility of the product (110.5g). After the test, the product was normal without damage and the package had good cushioning performance. The constant frequency vibration test proved that the product function was normal and the package had anti-vibration performance. The reduced packaging design of spherical table lamp based on six-step method has sufficient safety, considerable economy and excellent consumer experience.
