Abstract

The work aims to improve the traditional plastic packaging scheme under the new requirements of green packaging design and take the safe transportation of frame lamps as an example to design an environment-friendly cushioning packaging with all corrugated paperboard materials for frame products. Based on the six-step method of cushioning packaging, the cushioning packaging structure of all corrugated cardboard was designed by the three-dimensional modeling design method of planar materials. Two sets of cushioning packaging with the same structure and dimension were made by E and B typed corrugated cardboards. Both packagings were subject to drop tests according to the ISTA-1A standard. Through the data tested by the sensor installed on the lamp and the deformation of the external packaging, the influence of corrugated cardboard thickness on the cushioning performance of the packaging was studied, and the cushioning performance of the packaging was comprehensively evaluated. Two sets of corrugated cardboard cushioning packaging structures with different thicknesses were subject to drop tests on one corner, three edges and six sides, and the corresponding acceleration-time curves and packaging deformation diagrams were obtained. The maximum acceleration of the lamp system during the drop was 684.17 m/s2, which was less than the bulb fragility value of 784 m/s2. The lamp holder was not deformed and the bulb and its accessories were not damaged. The cushioning packaging structure made of B typed corrugated cardboard had less deformation than that made of E typed corrugated cardboard after the tests. The two sets of all corrugated cushioning packaging structure have good cushioning performance and cardboard with larger thickness have better cushioning effects, which can effectively cushion the impact of frame lamps during distribution and transportation and is suitable for being installed on both ends of other products with frame structures, with good use value and promising application prospects.
