							In order to reduce overprinter error and improve printing quality in intaglio printing process, the main causes of errors in intaglio printing ware analyzed and a multi-color alignment control system was designed based on fuzzy control. The principle of overprinter error detection based on image processing was discussed. According to the production demand of multi-color overprinter, a fuzzy proportional-integral-differential (PID) controller was designed. By using fuzzy reasoning, the PID parameters couble be adjusted adaptively, then a high precision and speed printing couble also be realized. Finally, the architecture of the control system was built by digital signal processor (DSP) and the experimental research was carried out. The experimental results show that the maximum deviation of over-printer is only 0.018 mm, which is far less than the industry standard. The detection speed of overprint deviation is obviously higher than that of printing, which can ensure the real-time performance of printing process.
