Effect of Precision Temperature Control Box on Quality of Daylily during Cold Storage

Abstract

In order to explore the effect of precision temperature preservation box on keeping freshness of daylily during cold storage, Gansu daylily was used as experimental material. They were packed in the polyethylene plastic box, put into the common storage box and the precision temperature control box, and stored in a cold storage at (0±1)°C.The physiological and biochemical indexes, nutritional indexes and color changes of daylily were determined every 7 d, and the temperature inside the storage box was monitored. The results showed that the temperature in the precision temperature control box was the lowest during storage, which was (0.6±0.1)°C. After 14 days of storage, the content of vitamin C, reducing sugar, total phenols and flavonoids in the the precision temperature control box was higher, and the total mass fraction of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b (1.31%) was significantly (P<0.05) higher than the common storage box. Compared with the common storage box, the precision temperature control box can effectively inhibit the increase of acidity, respiratory intensity, ethylene production rate and carotenoid content, and better maintain the color of daylily. By SPSS comprehensive scoring method, it came to that the precision temperature control box ranked the highest, with a better fresh-keeping effect compared with common boxes. OPLS-DA analysis showed that the difference indexes of different storage boxes were ΔE and the content of chlorophyll b.Then the activities of PPO and POD were measured, which are generally considered to be related to oxidation reactions. The results showed the precision temperature control box can effectively inhibit the activities of PPO, maintain the activity of POD in a relatively stable level, and significantly reduced the browning speed of daylily. Therefore, the precision temperature control box can better maintain the postharvest storage quality of daylily.
