Through analyzing the Miao silverware by the design semiotics, the materials base and knowledge base of the Miao silverware are set up and the Miao silverware are applied to the development and design of tourist souvenirs to enhance the national cultural connotation of the products. With the use of design semiotics, the Miao silverware are analyzed from the 4 dimensions of semantic, linguistic, pragmatic and contextual, and the materials and knowledge of the Miao silverware are summarized from the perspective of denotation, connotation, constitution, expression, cognitive habits, aesthetic standards, historical culture and religious belief. According to the questionnaire, the appropriate elements are picked up from the materials to design and develop them with shape grammar and other design methods. By analyzing and sorting out Guizhou Miao silverware through design semiotics , it provides rich material and knowledge for the designers to develop the tourist souvenirs with Miao characteristics, thus promoting the development of the Miao culture in modern design application, enhancing the intrinsic value of the products, and promoting the protection and inheritance of Guizhou Miao traditional culture.
