To test a bio-based seedling pot packaging container prepared using rice hull flour as the main material for its mechanical property. Elastic modulus and Poisson ratio were gained by static tensile test, and limit loads at different positions of the seedling pot were obtained by compression test. Based upon the parameters obtained above, simulation calculation was performed for the seedling pot using the finite element method (FEM) software. Simulation calculation found that the overall stress distribution could be divided into four layers under compression. The upper layer near the cup mouth had the largest stress, and would be damaged first, while the middle of the pot had the smaller stress. The results of the simulation were basically the same as the test results.
