Objective To provide basic data for the improvement and energy conservation of printing machinery. Methods The relevant parameters of energy consumption of different models of gravure press in several printing companies were measured and analyzed using air flow measurement method, and the data was subjected to variance analysis. Results The amount of energy consumption and the total energy efficiency when the gravure press was printing in different heating ways were obtained. Conclusion The amount of energy consumed per unit square meter of printed matter was proposed as an evaluation index for gravure press energy efficiency. Through analysis of the heat efficiency of some print machines and the working conditions and efficiency of some motors, the focus of energy consumption in gravure press as well as the possible influencing factors of energy consumption in gravure press were found, and a preliminary exploration was conducted on the energy-saving method of gravure press.
